South Bank Corporation is committed to designing and delivering projects that meet its master planning goals, and is committed to managing the Corporation's business to meet the highest standards of governance and accountability. A key focus area is to implement the Corporation's public open space plan, which aims to reduce the proportion of commercial buildings in the Parklands precinct to make way for more green and recreational spaces for South Bank visitors to enjoy.
An important priority is 'creating the experience' for the millions of visitors to the precinct each year, and the Corporation's vision is to create an urban precinct of international standing. As South Bank evolves, South Bank Corporation strives to ensure that the Parklands, Little Stanley Street and Grey Street are great authentic places, which form the heart of city life and contribute to the recognition of Brisbane as one of the world's most attractive cities.
Another key goal the Corporation strives to achieve is to be recognised as a precinct of ecologically sustainable excellence, demonstrating environmental and social leadership and commercial viability to the market.
With a commitment to responsible water use, the Corporation implemented a Water Efficiency Plan in 2001, and since this time, has reduced its water consumption by 81%.
In addition to South Bank Corporation's Stormwater Harvesting project, the Corporation has installed three additional 47,000L recycled water tanks and has improved recycling of backwash water from the pool filter system.
