South Bank Corporation and the Van Haandel Group are excited to announce Melbourne's renowned Stokehouse restaurant is scheduled to open its doors at South Bank's new riverfront dining precinct, River Bend, in late September this year.
SBC scoured the country for exceptional restaurant prospects that were in keeping with the open, airy, pavilion-style design and evocative of the Queensland lifestyle.
SBC General Manager, Commercial and Assets, Shane Beecroft said construction at River Bend had been slowed by flooding to the precinct earlier this year.
"Although no structural damage occurred to the River Bend development during the recent flood, South Bank Corporation has been focussing its resources and attention on flood recovery."
"Taking into consideration flood recovery efforts in the first quarter, our revised construction timeline for Stokehouse will be a September 2011 opening.
"Securing Stokehouse was a huge win for not only South Bank but Brisbane. We are looking forward to locals and visitors having unforgettable experiences which this new precinct will undoubtedly provide," Mr Beecroft said.
Stokehouse Brisbane will comprise a stunning 180 seat restaurant, bar and private events venue.
South Bank Corporation is continuing negotiations with a number of interested restaurant operators from around Australia and will be in a position to announce their details shortly.
