It's gourmet, Swiss, and garnished with the best natural ingredients: Movenpick Ice Cream is moving to Little Stanley Street at South Bank, with doors set to open on Saturday 18 July, 2009.
South Bank Corporation Manager, Retail & Property Clayton Burns said the ice cream and dessert bar will be a popular addition to Little Stanley Street at South Bank, and will feature interior and al fresco dining.
"We're delighted to welcome Movenpick Ice Cream to South Bank. Movenpick is renowned for its quality, unique flavours and natural ingredients and importantly, it will provide a new destination for visitors to indulge in their favourite desserts after lunch, dinner or a movie," Mr Burns said.
Mr Burns said the South Bank precinct is enjoying a period of growth, despite the economic downturn, with a series of new restaurants and bars set to open in the precinct.
"South Bank tenants continue to enjoy an increase in trade with Little Stanley Street 100 per cent occupied and enjoying a growth of approximately 10 per cent on sales during the comparable period in 2008."
Movenpick Ice Cream South Bank Owner and Manager Peir Lai said he chose to open his new business at South Bank due to its year-round restaurant and retail offer, as well as the precinct's commitment to local businesses, artists and events.
"There are many reasons why we decided to open at South Bank, but predominantly we chose the precinct because it's the Brisbane's most iconic and popular destination for the community for recreation and more than 10,000 people live and work in the direct precinct area," Mr Lai said.
"There is no other street like Little Stanley Street in Brisbane, and opening our store here gives us an opportunity to connect with food lovers who are looking to experience premium quality desserts and a fine-dining experience."
The store coincides with the recent release of four new ice cream flavours, including Pistachio, Cognac, Rhubarb, and Rum & Raisin.
"In Australia, Movenpick serves more than 18 flavours, including Swiss Chocolate, Maple Walnut, Crème Brulee, Vanilla Dream and Mango Sorbet, as well as a range of waffles, crepes, frappes and shakes," Mr Lai said.
Movenpick will open on Friday 18 July 2009 and will operate from 11am until 11pm seven days a week.
