With South Brisbane's population expected to double to just under 30,000 residents by 2026 and public spaces becoming more important, the Corporation is planning ahead to ensure that Brisbane people continue to have spaces and places to relax and unwind.
One of our key focus areas is to implement our public open space plan, which aims to make way for more green and recreational spaces for South Bank visitors to enjoy. The most recent example of this was River Quay, which opened to the public in October 2011. River Quay was built on the former boardwalk site and provides stunning open space along a prime stretch of the Brisbane River.
Grey Street is the place where buildings define the place but the people make the street. Our aim is to work collaboratively with precinct partners to set Grey Street apart from other Australian destinations. Some exciting new developments along Grey Street include the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) expansion and the new ABC headquarters.
Little Stanley Street has become one of Brisbane's premier retail precincts, offering an array of dining and shopping experiences. We will continue to work with our tenants to involve them in the emergence of Little Stanley Street as one of Brisbane's most vibrant and bustling destinations.
