Sharad Poonam

Sharad Poonam is an extraordinary traditional clebration on the Hindu calendar, that celebrates the full moon.

The Gujarati community celebrates the annual festival through singing and folk dancing while taking advantage of the bright moonlight. Women adorn themselves in beautiful traditional saris, ghagras and jewellery while the whole community joins in the vibrant folk dances.  Brisbane locals are invited to join in the celebrations for a unique, free night that is perfect for the whole family. Helpers will be on hand to demonstrate to members of the public, who are encouraged to dress in their colourful best.
