The trees lining South Bank Boulevard are transformed into shining sculptures as their trunks and branches are wrapped in thousands of recycled plastic bottles. This meshing of natural and man-made is symbolic of the tonnes of plastic thrown into our waterways and landfills on a daily basis. One of the most frequent items to be fished out of the Brisbane River is the ubiquitous plastic bottle, making Bottle Tree a visual reminder of the fragility of nature.
