Brisbane Festival - Bottle Tree

The trees lining South Bank Boulevard are transformed into shining sculptures as their trunks and branches are wrapped in thousands of recycled plastic bottles. This meshing of natural and man-made is symbolic of the tonnes of plastic thrown into our waterways and landfills on a daily basis. One of the most frequent items to be fished out of the Brisbane River is the ubiquitous plastic bottle, making Bottle Tree a visual reminder of the fragility of nature.

See Bottle Tree along the Clem Jones Promenade, between Riverside Restaurants and Streets Beach at South Bank.
