A significant achievement for South Bank occurred in 2004, when the International Real Estate Federation named South Bank the best public sector development in the world.
South Bank won the coveted FIABCI Prix d’Excellence Award for its two-stage Master Plan Redevelopment from 1992 to 1997.
Previous winners of this award include the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Euro Disney in Paris, Trump World Tower in New York and The Baltimore Inner Harbour.
In 2005, South Bank won the International Downtown Association's Merit Award for the Public Space category. This is a significant achievement, for the American-based association recognises and supports vital and liveable urban centres throughout the world.
